Let me tell you about one of the valuable sources we often use when we do family history research for our customers.
The books written by local historians and researchers can’t usually be found online or in the stores: they were printed in very small numbers. Thus, you can find them in the local libraries, schools, and village councils mostly. The authors may sometimes have some copies too.
Any time I travel around I try to buy or copy them. Such books often include the 1st hand accounts by people who are not living, as well as a lot of information obtained through records research.
I had a chance to do a research trip to Romaniv village in Lviv province for our customer and visit the local library last week.
I found the local history book by Vasyl Laba there. Vasyl Laba is a unique author who has published over 400 research papers.
